Jen was it you who said when Yorkie’s sales stopped they made the slogan “for men only” and then sales went up coz more women bought them?

 Yeah, I mean the sales went up from all types of customers just cos of visibility and availability, can’t find stats on it right now, but read/saw some editorial patting them on the back for good marketing, and noticed loads of girls eating it when I was in school, good way to be ‘one of the boys’ eh? I’m guessing dr. Pepper noticed a drop in sales as well as brand visibility from both men and women (their polarised demographics) and marketing something using cool masculinity never fails cos who doesn’t want to buy cool masculinity amirite?

Oh god there’s so much gender stuff here. Yorkie launched the ‘Not For Girls’ angle on the basis that chocolate is generally marketed to women, which is true. Of course, they couldn’t handle moving away from GENDERED FOOD and instead used the gender binary to create rivalry, competition, dollarzzzz $$$$$

Dr Pepper have just followed the model of Coke Zero, which I heard was almost identical in content to Diet Coke and just marketed differently. Because men don’t diet! MEN DESTROY THE CALORIES WITH THEIR MEN POWERS.

Just another way that the advertising industry exploits oppression and over-simplifies people in order to sell shit.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure buying that crap just provides more sales and more “proof” for them that their sexist marketing works.
